“Short Story collection. Required reading. My top 3 favorites are Exhalation, What's Expected of Us, and The Merchant and the Alchemist's Gate.

“Ted Chiang is one of my favorite sci-fi writers and I love these a lot. I think that I probably enjoyed the ones in the Story of Your Life and Others a bit more (Story of Your Life, Understand, Division by Zero, Liking What You See etc set a very high bar), but the ones in Exhalation are still excellent.
